Pride of Barbados-
This is a very showy plant. This time of year many clients are asking for it because they have been watching them put on a show for a couple of months by now.
They are drought resistant, and add an incredible splash of color during the hottest times of the year.
I would recommend cutting any flowers off if planting this time of year. The flowers indicate they are more interested in creating offspring than working on their roots. Get them in now so the roots are well established before next summer's show.
They love heat, and will freeze back in a cold winter. They are late to emerge from winter dormancy, as they really want the heat.
Enjoy!
